The significance of red culture and lighting design

Red culture carries a profound historical memory and a great revolutionary spirit. Lighting design aims to create a carefully created light and shadow atmosphere so that visitors can deeply feel the emotional power contained in that magnificent history the moment they step into the museum. According to the exhibition theme and the size of the space, select the appropriate lamps and light sources. Commonly used lamps include VIPL LED light strips, M9 series spotlights, Mingtu downlights, floor lamps, etc.

Considerations for light source selection

For light sources, color temperature, brightness, and color rendering index need to be considered. The color temperature should match the atmosphere to be created, the brightness should be sufficient to highlight the exhibits, and the color rendering index should be as close to natural light as possible to enhance the true color performance of the exhibits.

Key points of lighting layout

Lighting layout is an important part of lighting design. When laying out, the spatial layout of the exhibition hall, the location of the exhibits, and the visitors’ line of sight should be considered. Generally, the main light source should be set directly above or to the side of the exhibits to highlight the exhibits. Auxiliary light sources can be set in the corners of the exhibition hall or behind the exhibits to increase the sense of layering and three-dimensionality. At the same time, the angle between the light source and the visitor’s line of sight should also be considered to avoid direct glare that disturbs the visitors.

Basic lighting implementation method

Basic lighting is implemented by VIPL LED light strips, which are hidden in the ceiling grooves, the top or bottom edge of the display cabinet, etc., to outline the space and create an atmosphere. You can choose a 3000K warm white light strip. This color temperature of light gives people a warm and comfortable feeling, which is in line with the warm and heavy emotions contained in the red culture.

Track spotlights for accent lighting

VIPL uses track spotlights and M9 spotlights for accent lighting. They are highly flexible and highly adjustable. Selecting track spotlights with a narrow beam angle of 24°
can accurately project light onto exhibits, highlighting the details and features of the exhibits. When displaying large exhibits such as revolutionary relics and historical sculptures, track spotlights can illuminate the exhibits from different angles, showing their three-dimensionality and texture, allowing visitors to clearly see the texture of the relics, the details of the carvings, and the traces left by the years.

The role of LED spotlights in key lighting for small exhibits

It is used for key lighting of specific small exhibits or local details of exhibits. Its concentrated light beam and high brightness can effectively attract visitors’ attention. Choose VIPL LED spotlights with high color rendering index (Ra≥95) and color temperature coordinated with basic lighting (2700K – 3500K) to ensure that the original color presentation of the exhibits is not changed while highlighting the exhibits. For example, when displaying small exhibits such as precious red documents, stamps, medals, etc., LED spotlights can focus light on the exhibits, making them stand out in the display cabinet, allowing visitors to carefully appreciate the exquisiteness of these exhibits and feel the historical value they carry.
